Valerie L. Malueg
Of Counsel
After retiring from the City of Chattanooga as its Deputy City Attorney, Valerie Malueg has joined the law firm of Grant, Konvalinka, & Harrison as Of Counsel. As a member of the firm’s Transactional Team, Valerie brings twenty years’ experience in numerous aspects of the law with special emphasis on transactional and real property matters.
Valerie’s tenure with the City of Chattanooga gives her a comprehensive perspective of Tennessee municipal law and insight into a municipality’s business practices and requirements. This expertise will be invaluable for clients who have business not only with Chattanooga but also with other municipalities. As the lead attorney for the Office of the City Attorney’s Transactional Team, Valerie oversaw the assignment and completion of contract requests submitted by all City departments.
In addition to providing legal advice to the City Council, Department Heads, Boards, and City Staff, she reviewed and interpreted federal, state, and local laws to resolve legal issues and issue legal opinions. Before leading the Transactional Team at the Office of the City Attorney, Valerie defended lawsuits filed against the City in federal and state courts for over fourteen years.
Valerie enjoys spending time with her family and trying her hand at fiction, both short stories and novellas.
