October 18, 2021 -- The United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) today released a federal PFAS Strategic Roadmap outlining the agency’s goals and plans to research, restrict and remediate per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances. The agency indicates its plan to “attack” on multiple fronts the risk officials say PFAS presents, by leveraging the “full range of statutory authorities” in its arsenal to confront the issues. The government identified certain rules it proposes or intends to propose for implementation, various methodologies it will employ, and industries it believes should be considered for targeted review at the outset.
The PFAS Roadmap can be accessed here: https://www.epa.gov/system/files/documents/2021-10/pfas-roadmap_final-508.pdf.
