GKH environmental and litigation attorney David Higney is participating February 1, 2019 in the Tennessee Bar Association’s (TBA) Environmental Law Forum in Nashville, Tennessee. David is a panel leader regarding “Emerging Contaminants” and he will present with Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation staff who are also serving on a TDEC PFAS Working Group. His panel will focus on recent developments concerning an emerging class of contaminants known as PFAS, perfluoroalkyl substances, that regulators have linked to certain health concerns and impacts. PFAS chemicals have been used in everyday products including Teflon, StainMaster, ScotchGuard, fabric softeners, food packaging, Gore-Tex, and certain firefighting foams. The TBA Environmental Law Section sponsors the annual forum. In addition to David’s panel, this year’s coverage also includes presentations about changes in Tennessee’s water rules and Tennessee’s brownfield program. To learn more, go to: www.tba.org/cle
