The International Who's Who of Environmental Lawyers


Chattanooga (October 25, 2012) -- Chattanooga attorney David Higney again is listed as one of the leading environmental law counselors by The International Who's Who of Environmental Lawyers 2012. In 2011, Mr. Higney was the only attorney not located in Nashville and one of only four environmental attorneys in Tennessee to be honored and, again in 2012, of the four Tennessee lawyers selected Mr. Higney is the only Tennessee environmental attorney selected outside of Nashville.


Licensed in both Tennessee and Georgia, Mr. Higney focuses his practice on litigation and environmental law. He advocates before various federal and state courts, administrative agencies, commissions and boards. Mr. Higney regularly assists clients with Brownfield redevelopment projects, government enforcement actions, water pollution issues, hazardous substances and solid waste claims. He counsels clients seeking permits for new and expanding facilities; and, he represents the Chattanooga Regional Manufacturers Association relative to public utility cases.


Mr. Higney is a 1991 University of Tennessee College of Law graduate and earned his undergraduate business degree in 1988 at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, cum laude. He is an invited member of Chattanooga's Brock-Cooper Chapter of the American Inns of Court, a 2006 Leadership Chattanooga graduate and a past-president of the Leadership Chattanooga Alumni Association, and a past-chairman of the Tennessee Bar Association Environmental Law Section.

Congratulations to Brittany T. Faith on her recognition as a Volunteer 40 Under 40 recognizes forty alumni under the age of 40 who have excelled personally and professionally since completing their degree at UT Knoxville. Brittany Faith is a nationally recognized immigration attorney who has committed herself to service. At UT’s College of Law she was heavily involved in community service and leadership roles, including serving as director of UT Law’s Pro Bono program; treasurer of Law Women, American Bar Association (ABA) representative for the Student Bar Association; American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Midsouth law school liaison, and creator/founder of UT Law’s U Visa Alternative Spring Break. Faith currently serves as the Tennessee Bar Association Young Lawyers Division president, one of only 21 elected directors across the country to the AILA Board of Governors, and the Fit2Practice director for the ABA Young Lawyers Division Council. In addition, she regularly donates her time to pro bono and low bono immigration work, which is an area of law with a lack of resources due to federal funding limitations.
