Scott McDearman

Director

Scott McDearman received his B.A. from Washington and Lee University and his J.D. in 1986 from University of Tennessee with honors. He practices primarily in the areas of employment and health care. He also represents entities in defense of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) claims, as well as insurance companies in defense claims and individuals and entities in general litigation.


In his employment practice, Mr. McDearman represents primarily employers in both an administrative capacity and as counsel in connection with administrative claims and litigation involving allegations of violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights laws, wage and hour laws, the Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, National Labor Relations Act, the Tennessee Human Rights Act and other federal and state statutes.


In his health care practice, he represents medical providers before state and federal administrative bodies and courts. He has represented physicians, hospitals, home health agencies and nursing homes in connection with obtaining certificates of need and licensure. Mr. McDearman has also represented those entities in pursuing reimbursement claims against insurance companies and the Medicare program before state and federal administrative bodies. His work for physicians has included drafting managed care agreements and negotiating and litigating contracts and medical staff privilege issues.


As a member of the Members Attorney Program (MAP) of the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals, Mr. McDearman regularly represents collection agencies, law firms and individuals in defense of FDCPA cases.


Scott is married to his wife, Karen.
