Mathew Brownfield is a native of St.Louis, Missouri who now resides in Ringold, Georgia. Mr. Brownfield graduated summa cum laude from the University of Missouri in 1980, and graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1984, where he was Research Editor of the Law Review. Additionally, while at the University of Tennessee College of Law, he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Delta Phi, and the recipient of the Harold Warner Scholarship.
Mr. Brownfield clerked for Justice Robert E. Cooper of the Tennessee Supreme Court before beginning his career with Grant Konvalinka & Harrison. He practices in the areas of civil litigation, with an emphasis on commercial and intellectual property matters such as trademarks, trade names, copyright, unfair competition and trade secrets. Mr. Brownfield is a member of the Tennessee, Georgia, American and Chattanooga Bar Associations. He is a member of the International Trademark Association, and has served as a director for the Visually Impaired Training and Learning Center (VITAL), and was legal counsel for the Chattanooga Jaycees. Mr. Brownfield has also conducted character and fitness investigations for the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners. He presently is legal counsel and Chaplain for the Chattanooga Elks.
